ACL

ACL is finally here! Even though the lineup isn't as strong as the past 3 years that I have been, I am ALWAYS excited to go to ACL. I will be leaving work at noon today (always a good thing) and will be watching 20 -25 bands over the next 3 days! What a great way to kick off concert season!

If anyone feels like meeting up, here is (approximately) what my weekend schedule looks like:

Friday:
1:30-2:30 What Made Milwaukee Famous
2:30-3:30 Vampire Weekend
3:30-4:30 Del tha Funky Homosapien
4:30-5:30 Gogol Bordello
5:30-6:30 Hot Chip (kind of want to see Jenny Lewis but won't)
6:30-7:30 NERD
Roam around
8:30-10 Manu Chao (might catch a little Mars Volta)

Saturday:
12:30-1:30 Old 97's
1:30-2:30 The Fratellis
2:50-3:30 Back Door Slam
3:30-4:30 CSS (might also see Man Man)
4:30-5:30 Erykah Badu
5:30-6:30 MGMT
Roam around
7:30-8:30 Black Keys and Iron & Wine
8:30-10 Beck

Sunday:
1:30-1:50 The Kills
1:50-2:30 Adele
Roam around (a lot)
4:30-5:30 Silversun Pickups (maybe also Neko Case)
5:30-6:30 Blues Traveler
6:30-7:45 Raconteurs
7:30-8:30 Band of Horses
8:30-10 Foo Fighters

Other than listening to bands, surviving the heat (which I actually think it should be quite nice this year), and eating some amazing festival food; I am on the lookout for a guitar strap. I need one for my Gibson SG, and I saw one that I think would be a perfect fit! If anyone knows where to get it, let me know! This is what it looks like-

New TV Season= New Blogs!

How I Met Your Mother has just started it's fourth season, and sadly, I think it will be the last. I don't want this show to end, but I would also like to see one of my favorite shows go out on top before it stops being funny. With that said, I am trying to get in as many Barney quotes and rules (along with bro-code commandments) I can until the end finally does arrive.

I own all the seasons and constantly go online looking for websites and blogs the show references to see if they are real. I love how the show incorporates their fictional stories of websites or movies and turns them into real websites or YouTube videos!

So, other than going to Barney's blog all day long, I have stumbeld on to another amazing HIMYM blog for you to read- Have You Met Ted.com. This blog is not only to recap previous shows, but to give behind the scenes information on the show such as new cast members, predicitons, and to link to videos of cast members (in character) acting in other HIMYM-related videos.

Check it out! Let me know what you think...I am very excited to see Daneel Harris (from One Tree Hill and Maxim) playing Sarah Chalke's sister in future episodes...

I have a HUGE problem

My fantasy football team isn't the best. I have Adrian Peterson as my running back (he had better not be too hurt to play this week!) and two good quarterbacks, Aaron Rogers and Tony Romo. Other than that I have a pretty weak team.

Even though both quarterbacks are exceptional so far this season, I can only play one of them at a time.

Usually I just see which team is playing against a weaker team than the other and play that QB. But this is where my problem comes in...

This weekend, Green Bay plays Dallas. I'm stuck. No idea which to play. Both teams are doing well so far in the season.

This is how I see it:

Tony Romo: Better QB overall, but he has had a few interceptions so far in the season. Better receivers than Green Bay, but also better running back so he might not get points for all the touchdowns this weekend. Dallas will win the game overall, so they should have more points going to the QB.

Aaron Rogers: No interceptions this season yet, and has gotten more fantasy points than Romo in the first two weeks. Not as good quality of receivers compared to Dallas, but his arm is really their only method of scoring as of right now. Big problem is that they will lose the game, so Dallas has more chances to score.

WHO DO I PLAY THIS WEEK?!?

9/11

Today we remember the horrific event that is, was, and will always be known simply as "9/11." I just hope everyone took at least a little bit of their day to remember the tragic events of the day, and prayed and/or thought of all the loved ones that were lost.

I think the picture below is simply amazing.

I am only hoping that hurricane IKE will not destroy everything I know and love where I grew up. It has been evacuated since it is 15 miles from the coast and is directly in IKE's path...

Fall TV Lineup!!

I don't know about you, but I am so excited and ready for the new fall TV lineup! I know I watch a lot of tv normally, but after the most recent writer's strike affecting all of my favorite TV shows last year, I am in need of some serious TV time!

I have decided that, rather than trying to explain in detail how much of a TV junkee I am, that I would list a majority of the TV shows and the dates they will be starting back up again.* I will not include "One Tree Hill", "Gossip Girl:, or the new "90210" being that they already started earlier this week. Also, "The Sheild" started on the second, and I hear it is supposed to be a great season (because it is the final one).

Whether you like all these shows or just a few, make sure to set your DVR's now so you don't miss out!

Sunday, September 7th

Entourage(HBO)- I love Entourage, but last season was boring. I want to see more money getting thrown around! Also, Arie gets high in one episode this season when the boys think he needs to loosen up.

Tuesday, September 16th

House(FOX)- This show is amazing, and ended with the hint of Wilson's future departure. I love this show, but without Cameron, Chase, Foreman AND Wilson it probably won't last much longer.

Thursday, September 18th

It's Always Sunny in Philadlphia (FX)-This show is always hilarious, so definitely don't miss the premiere!

Monday, September 22nd

Boston Legal(ABC) - This is the final season for Denny Crane, so I am sure they will pull out all the stops. Maybe he will finally be sent to jail for something....but I doubt it.

How I Met Your Mother(CBS)- Barney will go deeper into his feelings for Robin and Ted will get an answer from Stella about his marriage proposal.

Heroes(NBC) - If you haven't heard anything about this new season, I suggest you read up! It is called "Heroes - Villians" because any hero can become a villian and vice versa. I am most excited for this show!

Thursday, September 25th

ER(NBC)- This show is coming to an end this season after 15 long seasons. Apparently Noah Wyle is coming back too. Thursday just has too much good TV to waste on ER these days...

Ugly Betty(ABC)- All I know is that Lindsey Lohan will be back on the show this season...you can take that as either a good or bad sign for things to come.

The Office(NBC)- Everyone has been waiting for this all summer! I want to know what happens to Jim and Pam....and there is no way Angela will marry Andy, right? I would like to see a little more Dwight/Jim humor like the old days...

Grey's Anatomy(ABC)- Grey's picks up where it left off with Meredith living with Derek and Alex and Izzie hooking up. Let's just hope that is isn't as boring as the past two seasons!

Sunday, September 28th

The Simpsons(FOX)- You have to give them credit. This will be their 20th season!

Desperate Housewives(ABC)- This season starts ater a 5 year flash forward into the lives of all the characters. I am not so interested in seeing what happened to a boring show 5 years later. Are you?

Dexter(Showtime)- This season, Dexter will kill an innocent person, causing everything around him to change dramatically.

Family Guy(FOX)- Seth McFarlane parodies "The Empire Strikes Back" this season, and if it is anything like the one from last season, I will be on the floor laughing 5 minutes into the episode.

Brother's and Sister's(ABC)- Justin finally hooked up with his "sister" Rebecca, and I would have too. He will be outed to the family early on in the season.

Californication(Showtime)- If you like music, nudity, or a strange mix of both you would love this show! Last season ended with Karen and Hank driving away from Karen's wedding together, and I have to know what happened. One of the best last 5 minutes of a finale I saw last season.

The Unit(CBS)- This is a horrible timeslot change for this show from Tuesday (when not much else is on). More of the same old story lines they keep repeating...I doubt this show will last long in competition with all the other great shows on Sunday.

Monday, September 29th

Chuck(NBC)- Somehow Chuck will die this season... twice. Not sure how realistic that sounds, but this show is entertaining! Monday is also not a good day for somewhat ok shows to be placed on and then get drowned out by other greats like Heroes.

Wednesday, October 1

Private Practice(ABC)- This show is pretty boring but not much else is on TV on Wednesdays. The writer's even said they sucked last year, but also say it will get better.

Dirty Sexy Money(ABC)- Great title! Lucy Liu will be joining the cast this season because her other (horrible) show, "Cashmere Mafia" was cancelled.

Thursday, October 9th

CSI(CBS)- William Peterson is leaving the series, and I am not sure if they can make it without him.

I am most excited for House, Entourage, HIMYM, Heroes, The Office, and Californication. If you take even half the shows listed, then add college and NFL football, you have an example of a normal week of my TV watching.

Shows that won't be returning this fall

[Scrubs](CBS) - season won't be returning until January, sadly.

Lost(ABC)- January 31, 2009. I loved this season until they started doing these LONG breaks between or in the middle of each season!

24(FOX)- Late 2009. This show better be amazing after skipping an entire season due to the writer's strike!

Flight of the Conchords(HBO)- January 2009. I am most upset about this! I will miss FOTC right after Entourage!

*Note: I might not actually watch ALL the shows listed... I will watch the majority, but some are shows that are known to be popular and thus relevant to this topc.

No reason for unnecessary violence guys....

Holy crap. When is the last time you saw security/the police use unnecessary force or violence in any given situation. Maybe 1/25 times? 1/50 times?

Now, when is the last time you saw fans use unnecessary force against the security guards who were using unnecessary force?

This video clip is insane. Cops/security start unnecessarily beating a fan who ran onto the feild (using the night stick? really?) so the fans in the stands decide to stick up for this person and collectively rush the field and take them out.

Also, for everyone who thinks soccer isn't a brutal game with insanely brutal fans, think again...then watch Green Street Hooligans.

I imagine that the stadium speakers were blaring NWA's hit song "fuck the police" during this entire altercation.

R.I.P. Don LaFontaine

Don LaFontaine, most famous for being "the voice of the movies" passed away yesterday at the age of 68. Apparently (I am not sure how accurate this is) he has done over 750,000 television spots and over 5,000 movie titles. Crazy!

I am not sure I have ever heard a movie trailer that he hasn't done. This makes me pretty sad...but I guess now there is more room for Pablo Francisco.
