Happy Friday!

In 2007, Chuy took me to see a band at SXSW that he said was HUGE...the only problem was that I had never heard of them before. He failed to mention they were huge in Sweden (or if he did I didn't hear him).

Either way, we ended up at La Zona Rosa with about 15 others listening to an AMAZING band that really does sell out 40,000+ person arenas in Europe.

That band was Mando Diao, and I have been a fan ever since.

Here is their video for 'Dance with Somebody':

Happy Birthday, Blog - 2 Year Anniversary!

I can't believe it has already been two years! Last Year I went over a few favorite posts that I wrote in the blogs first year of existence, which made me think of all the time I wasted at work (and how much fun I had doing it).

This year, I think I am going to go another route.

I haven't been posting as much, because there isn't as much going on in my life; but hopefully I will be able to change that very soon. I have seen a lot of bloggers closing down and quitting the blogosphere, and I definitely don't plan on doing that in the near future. I do, however, want to get more interesting/witty/amusing posts up more often, which will require a little more effort on my part.

So that is my challenge for this next year; put more effort into my blog. I had a great time doing SXSW coverage (and music in general), so maybe there might be a bigger push in that direction...but maybe not. I really don't know yet.

I do hope that everyone is still enjoying it because I am, and even more so; I hope you are checking out the other blogs that I read (located on the right) regularly.

With that, as my birthday present; I leave you with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog at this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival:

Lollapalooza 2009 Schedule Is Out!

The schedule for the 2009 Lollapalooza festival was released this morning, and let me tell you; Friday and Sunday aren't pretty (in Lolla terms...for any other festival, this probably wouldn't look so bad).

There are lots of conflicts, which is bound to happen with that many great bands, but come on...I am sure they could have done a better job with the schedule. Normally C3 Presents saves the time conflicts for ACL (this number of conflicts is NOTHING compared to a typical ACL schedule/fiasco), but it looks like Lolla was actually hit with more conflicts than normal for the first and last day of the festival.

Again, I know that conflicts are bound to happen, but it always makes me mad to see bands that I thought I was getting to see up against another band that I like and I have to choose between them.

It always works out in the end. Let's just hope that the ACL schedule doesn't look even worse...

Larry David On The Tonight Show

Last night (6/16/09) Larry David appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, and let me just say that it was hilarious.

If you are wondering why you don't recall seeing Larry David (edit note: It sounds weird just calling him "Larry") on more late night talk shows, it is because he doesn't do them. He hates them. This was actually his first appearance on the Tonight Show ever.

If you like the shows Seinfeld, or especially Curb Your Enthusiasm, then you will enjoy this interview. The clips are broken into two segments where he talks about why he thinks he divorced, to revealing that he enjoys being fired. Then, underneath those clips is the preview for the new Woody Allen movie featuring Larry David called "Whatever Works."

Thank You, Zack Morris!!

I used to LOVE Saved By The Bell! If you didn't, then you are in one of the following categories: A.) Someone with horrible taste B.) Really young (which still isn't a very good excuse) or C.) Dead (but liked the show when you were alive).

I sometimes even catch episodes when I can't sleep/have to wake up around 5am, and even though I have seen them all, they are still amazing.

Well, thanks to Jimmy Fallon, Zack Morris (no, not Mark-Paul Gosselaar) appeared on the Late Night show to give us an update on his life and to agree to appear in their version of a cast reunion.

So far, the people who have agreed to being in the reunion are:

-Zach Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar)
-A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez)
-Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhies)
-Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley) [ Who knew Jessie's middle name was Myrtle??]
-Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins)

The only two that are currently holding out are Kelly Kapowski and Screech (who apparently hates the entire cast, so don't hold your breath on this one).

Enjoy!

UPDATE 6/10: Here is an interview with Mark-Paul Gosselaar talking about his Jimmy Fallon appearance.

The Hangover Is No. 1!!

Go see 'The Hangover'!

If you didn't see it this past weekend then you are seriously missing out on a hilarious summer comedy. The movie has amazing actors, absolutely hilarious comedic-writing and is totally worth the cost of the ticket.

'The Hangover' also beat out 'Up' for the Number 1 spot on the box office charts, even though the estimates showed 'Up' winning by less than $1 million.

I am probably going to see it again... There was too much craziness going on, and I know I missed a few things here and there.

Oh, and if you are a male friend of mine; be prepared for that exact adventure for my bachelor party (which I am apparently planning, even though it won't be happening any time soon).

Someone Really Likes Mario...

Apparently, the guys over at www.seriouslunch.com noticed that Conan O'Brien's new set for the Tonight Show looks very familiar...

Watch the Tonight Show tonight (6/4), because one of the writers for the show said they might actually mention/comment on this.

I think it is pretty cool whether or not it was a coincidence. Click the photo to enlarge and get a good look at the similarities.

UPDATE 6/6: Well, I had a video of Conan addressing this, however the video of the Tonight Show from 6/5/09 was removed due to a Copyright claim by NBC.

Jimi Hendrix Murder Confession?

I am not sure I believe this, but I guess anything is possible...

Now take this as you like: In his recent book, "Rock Roadie," Hendrix's former assistant James "Tappy" Wright claims Hendrix was murdered by his then manager Michael Jeffrey. According to Wright's account, Jeffrey allegedly confessed to Wright that he had murder Hendrix to collect on Hendrix's life insurance policy. At the time, Jeffrey had been written as the beneficiary of Hendrix's $2 million life insurance policy, and according to Wright's alleged conversation with Jeffrey from 1971, Jeffrey was worried Hendrix was going to fire him. Jeffrey, who died in 1973 in a plane crash, is quoted by Wright as saying: "I was in London the night of Jimi's death and together with some old friends... we went round to Monika's [Dannemann] hotel room, got a handful of pills and stuffed them into his mouth...then poured a few bottles of red wine deep into his windpipe...I had to do it. Jimi was worth much more to me dead than alive...That son of a bitch was going to leave me. If I lost him, I'd lose everything."

The coroner's report stated that Hendrix died of "barbiturate intoxication and inhalation of vomit."

Hendrix died in September 1970. His body was found in a room at London's Samarkand Hotel booked by Monika Dannemann, whom Hendrix had known for a matter of days. Jeffrey allegedly made the confession to Wright in 1971, two years before he was killed in a plane crash.

Writing of the admission, Wright says: "I can still hear that conversation, see the man I'd known for so much of my life, his face pale, hand clutching at his glass in sudden rage."
